Professional ultra-cyclist Omar di Felice has begun a 4,000-kilometer journey across eight countries bordering the Arctic Circle, to raise awareness about climate change. His Arctic World Tour started in the Kamchatka Peninsula, in the Russian Far East. He will fly to Lapland, and ride 1,500 km from Murmansk, in Russia, to Troms (Norway), via Finland and Sweden, before travelling to the Svalbard Islands, the northernmost point of his journey. Next, he will fly to Iceland before reaching Greenland, where he will take the Arctic Circle Trail, a 200 km off-road trail. The last leg will be in North America, where he will bike from Whitehorse, Yukon into Alaska. The Arctic tour is part of his Bike to 1.5C project. In October, he rode 2,000 km from Milan to Glasgow to the COP26 climate conference.
