The New York Public Library (NYPL) has displays of free books across its 92 locationsin Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island. These books are meant to encourage reading for children and teens, as well as for adults and families to build their home libraries. "Public libraries are uniquely positioned to do this while students are out of the classroom over the summer months, providing quality, free programs to engage their minds while also getting them excited about books, reading, learning, and their communities," says Brian Bannon, a `member` of the staff. The library system is also offeringfree youth programs throughout the summer, including story times, reading challenges, and writing contests.
