Pumpkins for Pigs is a website that started five years ago. The website accepts leftover pumpkins from the fall and winter season that otherwise would go to waste. Featuring 360 farms throughout the United States, the Pumpkins for Pigs redirects the orange fruits that have not been carved or marked by pens to feed farm animals. Animals such as pigs, chickens, and goats love pumpkins, which are a good source of vitamin A, fibers, and antioxidants. According to her estimates, Jennifer Seifart, owner of the Pumpkins for Pigs, says about 540 tons of pumpkins were saved from going to the landfill within the past year.
