When McDonalds workers in Amherst, NY were closing up for the night, snow and wind started whipping the area. It wasn't safe to drive so they instead decided to stay open and offer shelter to those who needed it. It didn't take long before Amherst Police and Fire were dropping off stranded motorists. The McDonalds workers offered a safe and warm place, food, and hot coffee and chocolate. That Christmas weekend, more than 50 people sought shelter at the McDonalds open to anyone who needed it.
