Lee Palmer started Spirits Place in 2016. Spirits Place is a cat sanctuary that helps cats from all backgrounds, including feral cats and unsocialized community cats to have a place to call home. Liz Breault, who volunteers at Spirits Place, also works with other organizations and had the idea to connect the cat sanctuary with seniors. Together, Liz and Lee created the program Furever Friends: seniors adopt a cat for free and get financial support from a grant to buy supplies and provide medical care for the cat. Should the senior need to move into a nursing home, the cat sanctuary will care for the cat until they can find a new home.
