Four-year-old Lilo was found on the streets of Chattanooga, Tenn., a handwritten note on her collar explaining that her mom was homeless with two children and little money. “She really loves me and I’m a great dog and love to be loved on.” A local resident took Lilo to McKamey Animal Center. Shelter staff shared the story on social media, titling the post “A Note To Lilo’s Mom: We’re here for you”. After hearing about the post, Lilo’s mom visited the shelter, and there were no dry eyes. She and her two young children are staying somewhere that does not allow animals, and shelter staff are working with the Family Justice Center and a local pet-friendly shelter to get the family relocated. Lilo will stay at the shelter until she can live with her family again.
