Working as a lawyer, Carolynne Burkholder-James has written many deathbed wills for clients. It made her realize just how short life really is and it inspired her to give the gift of life to someone she doesn't know. months of medical screenings, Carolynne donated one of her kidneys. She is part of Canada's National Kidney-Paired Donation Program, which supports anonymous donors in their wish to donate a kidney. Donations have a huge impact, setting off a chain reaction of people in need of a transplant getting help. "The system — also known as chained kidney donations — works by having a pool of anonymous donors and patients needing a kidney being matched by blood types." Carolynne encourages people to consider becoming a donor.
