The House of Representatives for the US state of Minnesota recently passed a bill guaranteeing free breakfast and lunch to all Minnesota students, regardless of income requirements set by a federal government program. It’s a move that advocates say will reduce child hunger and ensure no kids fall through the cracks. “We’re going to give them the tools they need to succeed in school and that means food,” said Rep. Sydney Jordan. One in four food-insecure children don’t qualify for support under current programs, according to Hunger Solutions Minnesota.
