Global sales of electric cars exploded in growth by 10% in just two years, with more than 10 million sold in 2022. "Electric vehicles are one of the driving forces in the new global energy economy that is rapidly emerging," says Fatih Birol, executive director at IEA. "And they are bringing about a historic transformation of the car manufacturing industry worldwide." China, Europe, and the United States were the main concentration of such markets, followed by tripling of sales in India and doubling in Thailand.
