A group of Canadian researchers interviewed six female centenarians about what it is like to live at 100 years of age and made a short documentary called Looking Forward at 100 based on video recordings of the interviews. These centenarians– all of whom lived through the Great Depression and the Second World War– led long, interesting lives. One centenarian, Jean, told stories of how she helped her husband hide blueprints of the Avro Arrow aircraft, so they don’t fall into enemy hands. In spite of the women's unique life experiences, family and raising children played a central role in all of their lives. Aside from sharing life stories, now the centenarians find joy in daily activities, hobbies, and visits from family members. Most of them engage in activities that bring them joy and meaning on a regular basis. Rather than planning for the future, they tend to focus on each day as it comes and leaves the future of the world to younger generations.
