Former NBA star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar speaks on the Today Show about the op-ed he wrote for the Los Angeles Times amid the protests in response to the death of George Floyd. If you want to change this, just make a friend with someone who doesn't look like you, he said. "Find out who they are and understand this humanity, and we will get over all of this fear. Most of what we're going through now is based on fear -- fear that we won't be able to do what we want to do for our children. Fear that we're going to be attacked. Fear that the schools won't work. Fear that our health will be compromised.... Americans are great at helping each other get past crises. That's all you have to do -- just realize that those people out there are your fellow citizens."
