It happened last year, but offers timeless hope in humanity. Eleven days after devastating attacks in New Zealand's Christchurch mosques in March 2019, 95 year-old John Sato decided to join an Auckland march against racism to show his support for the Muslim community. "I stayed awake quite a lot of the night and I haven't sleep too well ever since, you know. I thought it was so sad. You can feel the suffering of other people," he had told Radio New Zealand. Visiting a local mosque after the attack, he decided to join the march - and took 4 buses to get there. Once he arrived on site, people gave him a hand to make his way, and made sure he returned home safely. Sato recalls, "a policeman took me all the way home and waited down there until he saw me get up the stairs".
