Akshay Kothawales wedding date had been fixed on May 25 in Pune but he and his fiancee decided to postpone the wedding due to the lockdown. But, instead of just waiting the lockdown period out, he is reaching out to help as many people as he can. He is now using the money he had saved for his wedding to feed migrants. With the help of a few friends, they prepare food for nearly 400 people everyday and then go around the city streets to distribute. Kothawale is helping senior citizens and pregnant women by offering free rides to clinics in his auto. He has also put up a loudspeaker on his auto-rickshaw through which he and his friends have been creating awareness among people about the coronavirus and how to stay protected against it.
