The only person in the world to receive a groundbreaking treatment for brain cancer is doing well almost 18 months later, says the National Brain Appeal, which funded the treatment. Glioblastoma, the most common type of brain tumor, affects 3,200 people in the UK each year. Ben Trotman, 41, was diagnosed with a glioblastoma in October 2022 before his wedding. He had a poor reaction to the trial’s immunotherapy treatment, which Dr Paul Mulholland, the brain cancer specialist at University College hospital in London who led the trial, thinks may have been a rapid immune reaction in the tumor.” Brain scans last summer and more recently showed no evidence of high-grade disease in his tumor. Trotman, who started standard treatment last January, now continues with monthly chemotherapy.
