As nature intended. A centuries old dam was removed after the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) ordered its removal. The Maine town's people were mostly apathetic but a few people believed it would do some good. And, good it did. The ecosystem of the unabated river has led to rampant growth in the natural ecosystem. For the first time in ages, bald eagles, alewives and other marine life are soaring, setting a precedent for more dams to be broken and let nature take its course.
