As Covid-19 continues to make ripples around the world, the elephants of Maesa camp in northern Thailand catch a break. With the decline of tourism the camp owners have scrapped the heavy wooden chairs tied to the backs of elephants, freeing them for the first time in 44 years. Even if the camp operates again it will be a spot where elephants roam freely and can be observed by visitors.
