Human activity and its consequences has caused the decline of honey bee populations around the world. But beekeepers have found a welcome aid in the effort to develop new technologies to reduce their losses and better manage their hives. One technology startup, ApisProtect based in Ireland, has launched a small smart sensor that collects data about the beehive when placed under its roof. The data allows beekeepers to detect any issue in the hive, which has led to the ability to save a great number of hives, and "dramatically increase the amount of pollination and honey output," said Fiona Edwards Murphy, CEO of the company.
