Field trip, anyone? Back in May 2020, the Kansas City Zoo and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art paired up to help the zoo's penguins have an uplifting experience. We take care of wild animals at the zoo, and we're always looking for ways to enrich their lives. During this shutdown period the animals really miss having visitors come out and see them," said the zoo's executive director and CEO, Randy Wisthoff. As a result, they arranged a field trip to the museum so the penguins could take in some art. (In case you're wondering about penguin art preferences, they seemed to react better to Caravaggio than to Monet.) We were happy to visit and the penguins absolutely loved it, Wisthoff said.
