The city of Denver will partially fund two temporary sanctioned campsites for people experiencing homelessness. The contract between Denver and Colorado Village Collaborative is for $899,569 and will support two encampments, with amenities such as portable toilets and hand-washing stations. Chief Housing Officer Britta Fisher said the sites connect people experiencing homelessness to other services, including helping people find more permanent housing, providing dental cleanings and getting people connected to mental health resources. The city’s contribution amounts to 86% of the budget for the two campsites; private donors also chipped in to help cover costs.
