Across the United States, volunteers in Hindu temples, Muslim groups, and Sikh relief organizations are mobilizing support for India's devastating surge of coronavirus. Faith groups from coast to coast have collected hundreds of oxygen concentrators and electrical transformers to ship to overwhelmed hospitals. They have raised millions for relief materials ranging from food to funeral pyre firewood and gathered in prayer for all affected by the crisis. As official records have surpassed 24 million positive cases and over 262,000 deaths, the actual counts are believed to be much higher. Many volunteers have been coordinating these relief efforts while simultaneously running day jobs and family responsibilities. "In these last two weeks, many of us haven't slept. It's been an intense period of time, but for us, it's about giving back to the community," said Manpreet Kaur, one of the directors of Khalsa Aid, a Sikh humanitarian organization.
