More than 60 companies in Australia and New Zealand have joined an ambitious four-year pact to create a circular economy for plastic. The ANZPAC Plastics Pact (ANZPAC) aims to eliminate unnecessary plastic waste, make all remaining plastic recyclable, reusable, or compostable, increase self-policed plastic packaging by 25 percent and increase use of recycled plastic in manufacturing by 25 percent as well. The pact has joined the Ellen MacArthur Foundation's global Plastics Pact Network, which unites 550+ organizations in 11 such pacts. The Australian Packaging Covenant Organization will provide reporting, governance and admin frameworks and efficacy research.
