Business Alliance to Scale Climate Solutions comprises eight companies, such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Salesforce, Disney and Netflix, looking to find ways to scale funding for climate change solutions. With the involvement of experts from the UN Environment Program and World Wildlife Fund, their knowledge-sharing will help them to meet their stated commitments for accelerating emission reduction efforts and collaborate to launch clean energy projects. The alliance has an explicit commitment to achieve absolute emission cuts instead of merely trying to offset emissions. The initiative recognizes common goals and the need for a common action plan based on sharing of resources and learning together. "Companies are realizing that there is no way any one of them, even the most ambitious or rich company can solve this problem alone; it's the same issue with any government," says Elizabeth Sturcken, who leads the Environmental Defense Fund's net-zero program.
