Gone West, which partners with local communities and businesses around the globe, has planted more than five million trees while employing more than 200 unemployed youths and formerly incarcerated persons. Two years after founding Gone West in the UK in 2013, James Hughes discovered his innovative business model - selling planted trees directly to businesses looking to offset their carbon footprint. Crowd equity fundraisers such as its Seedrs Campaign established Gone West as a community-owned, purpose-driven planting business, and Gone West - valued today at $5.7 million -- now has a surplus of potential business partners.
