A fire at Dr. Levesque Elementary School in Frenchville, Maine, burned down the entire collection of 9,500 books in the school's library. So when "Print: A Bookstore" bookstore heard the news FROM 300 miles away, they responded by setting up a wish list inviting customers to purchase books for the school. We just started letting people know about it and actually, as of a couple minutes ago, people had purchased (almost) everything we had listed on the wish list, which is so exciting, said Stephanie Heinz, children's manager and community coordinator for Print. Other literary `groups` and local Maine authors, as well as their connections, rallied in the collective effort to help. And a Fort Kent bookstore, Bogan Books, located near the elementary school, also initiated a book drive to help restore the book collection. It's beautiful to think of Fort Kent, on the northern tip of Maine, and think of Portland in the south, at Print, working together to support this small school and community, said Lynn Plourde, an author from southern Maine.
