Shopping giant Amazon says it will cover the cost of college tuition for all 750,000 of its frontline workers in the United States. The offer also would cover other types of education including high school diplomas and English language courses, and on-the-job career training would be extended to 300,000 workers. Many US firms are offering incentives to lure employees back to work as job openings of 10.9 million exceed the number of unemployed by more than two million. Last month Walmart said it would pay tuition and books for hourly staffers, with about 1.5 million people eligible, while Target offered free undergraduate degrees to more than 340,000 employees at United States stores.
