In 2021 the British government will require that all newly built homes have electrical vehicle chargers. Homes and offices must have "smart" charging devices that will charge vehicles during off peak periods. Additionally, new office buildings must include chargers for every five parking spaces. The move will make England the first country to implement legislation of this kind. It is hoped the measure will boost the United Kingdom's efforts to ban new fossil fuel vehicles by 2030.
