15-year-old Vinisha Umashankar discovered a way to transform India’s popular but environmentally toxic ironing businesses by using solar energy. After noticing the large amounts of charcoal many ironing vendors left to burn each day, she developed an ironing system that uses solar power to eliminate the environmental damage caused by charcoal smoke. Engineers from the National Innovation Foundation helped Vinisha develop her idea, now known as Power Max -- India’s first solar powered ironing business.
