Cristina Mittermeier is a marine biologist with a special flair for photography. Taking the two fields she loves, she pioneered a field called conservation photography. Mittermeier and her partners founded the Only One Collective in 2020, an organization that uses photography and storytelling to spin apathy into action needed for climate action. Their work inspires a sense of urgency, as well as garnering funding and advocacy for projects that need it. Mittermeier believes we can harness the natural powers of the ocean which can help create more than a 20 percent reduction in carbon emissions. The organization collaborates with leaders, scientists, innovators, and local youth all around the world, including the South Pacific Islands and Central America.
