Interior designer Chelsey Brown has long visited thrift stores and flea markets for decorating bargains but now she uses her thrifting skills to reunite forgotten family heirlooms with their rightful owners. Since she saw an old handwritten letter at a flea market last summer and found the addressee's descendants, she has returned hundreds of heirlooms. She and her father, a genealogist, started working on genealogy cases as a father-daughter duo in 2019. They found the family of a baby girl buried in 1938 in a New York cemetery, next to Chelsey’s grandparents. Her relatives knew she existed but did not know where she was buried. “Now she does not have to be alone,” a niece wrote. “Those reactions are exactly what fuel me," says Chelsey. "That’s why I keep doing it.”
