After the One Ocean Summit which included more than 100 countries around the globe, 27 EU states and 16 others came to agreement to safeguard the world's oceans, aiming to put a stopper on illegal, unreported fishing, reduce plastic pollution, and protect biodiversity. Twenty-two shipping companies in Europe are already working to reduce underwater noise pollution, and both France and Columbia declared an effort to finance the restoration of coastal marshes and mangroves around the world. The next step is to reach a final agreement at the UN negotiations this March and create clear, concrete plans for governance.
