Teenage internet activist Avi Schiffmann, who built a website to keep the world updated on the spread of the COVID pandemic, has just launched a new website that connects Ukrainian refugees with hosts in nearby Poland, Hungary, Romania, Moldova and Slovakia. However, it also can be used anywhere in the world. UkraineTakeShelter.com, which launched March 3rd, securely matches Ukrainian refugees with hosts offering to take them in. When refugees enter the nearest city to which they are located, a list of nearby hosts appear. The hosts can be contacted at the Telegram signal, WhatsApp number, or website they have provided on their listing. There had to be something very streamlined and intuitive to use," Schiffmann said. "Refugees are very stressed, confused and lost. There needed to be something that cut through the clutter."
