The small, 350-person English village of North Moreton in Oxfordshire is hoping to welcome up to 60 Ukrainian refugees. The idea came from Polly Vachon, who has friends in Ukraine. "It was just so horrendous to see these people with their houses bombed, losing family, friends, their husbands going out to fight, children, you know, seeing things they should never have to see," she said. Those who could not offer accommodation helped with things like cooking, teaching, or transportation. The village offers refugees warmth, friendship, and people caring for them. Vachon hopes other villages can do the same.
