“It’s the first step to break the cycle of homelessness that many of them face.” A shipping container village for those without homes in Victoria, Canada, prepares to celebrate its one-year anniversary in May. A year ago the Greater Victoria Coalition to End Homelessness partnered with Aryze Developments on the project. Together, they launched a crowdfunding campaign that raised $550,000 from the public and businesses in three months. “It has been a great success,” says Sylvia Ceacero, executive director for the Greater Victoria Coalition to End Homelessness. “Residents have found a sense of belonging and a sense of stability at the Tiny Homes Village.”
