This year, one United Kingdom company is launching an Easter egg flavored with cocoa beans from a rainforest preservation project in Sierra Leone andorange peels from a local beach caf. Chocolarder is one of a handful of bean-to-bar chocolate makers who control the process with no compromises, says founder Mike Longman. It sources organically-grown beans from family-run plantations; processes them to develop the chocolate's individual flavor, using restored antique machines; and then tempers and crafts bars and eggs which are wrapped in plastic-free packaging. As well as Easter eggs, Chocolarder produces dark, milk, and white chocolate bars.
