Sloths are among the most endangered mammals in the world, with only about 1,500 remaining in the wild. Within the heart of Costa Rica's La Ceiba rainforest, the Jaguar Rescue Center helps orphaned sloth babies develop the skills to survive in the wild. Along with other babies of the same age, cubs go through ‘high school,’ learning little by little how to be a sloth. That includes learning to eat a highly nutritious diet -- sloths have an extremely low metabolic rate and it can take them days to digest food. Before releasing them back into the wild, caregivers microchip the sloths so they can be tracked.
