"I'll keep doing what I can while I can, is my policy, said 95-year-old Harold Messam, from Breaston, UK. Having been told by doctors he would never walk again after a double pelvic fracture, Harold now completes the weekly 5 km parkrun in under an hour. He is well known at the event and receives plenty of support from other participants and spectators. "It means a lot being recognized,"he says, "but I don't think it's for who you are. It's for what you're doing. To me, it's not a race. It's achieving, finishing what I've started." Over the years, Harold has done extensive walks up and down the country. "I'll probably have to slow down a little bit later on, but not yet," he says. "My body will tell me when to slow down."
