The pandemic has caused a disproportionate withdrawal of women from the workforce, since women generally became the default parent during school and daycare closures. And re-entry isn't easy, since COVID put a multi-year gap in millions of resums. Some companies are making it easier with return programs. Financial services group Nomura is one of those. Open to people who've taken a career break of 18 months or more, the program offers 12 weeks of training and coaching, after which time candidates can apply for positions at the company. One of those candidates was Shereen Peeroo Finney, a London-based cybersecurity architect who joined Nomura in 2019, after two years away from work. The support provided in the program makes the difference between a returner thriving and struggling, says Peeroo Finney.
