In 2013, a beloved 1200+ year old Pontfadog oak tree was uprooted in a village in North Wales. The residents were devastated, "When it fell it was like someone had died. We all grieved for it," says Chris Williams, whose family has lived on the territory for generations. But last Wednesday, a ceremony was held in which cloned saplings of the Pontfadog oak were planted near the area of the old tree. The return of the species to felt like a revival in a way, breathing new life into the village.
