When the need for masks suddenly grew with the spread of Covid-19, many grassroots groups emerged in Colorado to respond to the calls for help from social workers, emergency health workers, nursing homes, the homeless and jail inmates, among others. Dena's Mask Making Army and Mask Mavens of Lakewood are two examples of volunteer armies that have had a major impact in Colorado by donating reusable masks. Denver's jails have been one of the main beneficiaries of these efforts.
