Researchers at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology have discovered a way to use magnetic materials to quickly and affordably remove microplastics from water. The team developed an adsorbent that attracts plastic particles and even dissolved pollutants in the water. Because the adsorbent contains iron, researchers were able to use magnets to collect the microplastics and dissolved pollutants.
