Jonathan, the tortoise, was born not long after Napoleon died, and is the planet's oldest known living land animal. This month, he was also named the oldest tortoise on record. Jonathan is enjoying his retirement in Plantation House, the official residence of the St Helena governor, where his birthday was celebrated all weekend. Not only did Jonathan enjoy a "birthday cake" made out of his favorite foods, he also got a stamp issued in his honor.
