Pope Francis of the Roman Catholic Church extended voting rights to five religious sisters in a historic first of allowing women to become part of the papal advisory board. "In the near future, we hope that the synod continues to develop into a fully representative body of the people of God," wrote the church. The change comes as an important shift against unspoken rules of sexism within the church.
