Regina's Wascana pool is diving into a new era of recreational design, setting a new standard in inclusivity and accessibility for public spaces in Canada. The $16.4 million project has sought to create the most inclusive pool in the country. "The new paradigm is to design without gender in mind and so the new facility is entirely gender-neutral," says Michael Henderson, a principal architect at hcma. In addition to gender-neutral changing areas, the facility caters to all types of swimmers and even includes a lazy river and a dual flume waterslide. Sustainability plays a big role in the design, as solar energy is harnessed via panels installed on changing room roofs. Henderson concludes, "It's really fun. It is a really, really fun facility." Dive in and experience the fun for yourself!
