Jessie Baird has brought back the unspoken Wampanoag language with a project of love involving more than 11,000 dictionary entries, earning her a spot as one of USA Today's 100 Women of the Century. She also teaches the language to children through the Wpanak Language Reclamation Project. This is not just a language of words, but of meaning, too, where every person is referred to in relation to the kinship around them. Baird is also inspiring women in ways beyond this project.
