There is good news from AXA's annual Mind Health Study. "The post-pandemic world looks set to be a kinder place for us all to live," says AXA UK&I CEO Claudio Gienal. The new research reveals that although the UK is experiencing more mental ill health than the rest of Europe, Brits have become more compassionate and empathetic in part because of the pandemic. The study's second edition shows that the pandemic has helped to de-stigmatize mental health conditions in the UK, encouraged more people to have open conversations about their own struggles, and made people better able to acknowledge when they may need support. Almost half (47%) now care more about the wellbeing of their local community and 39% feel that their local community has become a kinder and more friendly place to live since the pandemic. But the study also shows workplaces need to improve mental health support for employees, with only 40% of people agreeing their employer provides good support regarding their mental health.
