Nevada lawmakers have approved a “transformational package of funding for children’s mental health services” - a massive investment that includes $171 million for public health and more than $45 million for mental health services, including mobile crisis response teams, a new children's behavioral health authority and in-home services for youth with intensive needs. The funding came from the $2.7 billion received through the American Rescue Plan. Cindy Pitlock, who heads the state’s Division of Child and Family Services, said the package will create an “interwoven system of services and supports” that will give families more options to access help. The $151 million allocation for public health covers construction and renovation of new and existing laboratories and health centers in Northern and Southern Nevada. UNR President Brian Sandoval hailed it as a “historically significant investment in the public health future of Nevada.”
