In the Pole of Cold, the coldest place on Earth with the lowest temperature ever recorded of -89°C (−128.6 °F), the Russian Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute (AARI) were able to grow watermelons in Vostok Station, despite low atmospheric pressure and oxygen levels.
