When Foodora Air, a collaboration between Tele2, a mobile connectivity firm; Foodora, a restaurant and grocery delivery company; and Aerit, a delivery drone manufacturer, starts in May in a small Stockholm municipality, it will turn 30-minute car trips into 7-minute battery-powered flights, says Aerit CEO Alexander Perrien. The Nimbi drones look like old-school milk churns, can carry up to 8.8 lb (4 kg) and travel up to 7.5 miles (12 km) when fully loaded. Its unique winching mechanism enables package pick-up and drop-off without additional infrastructure. Aerit completed Sweden’s first commercial drone food delivery in October 2021.
